Becoming a guardian

It starts with a beautiful connection.

A guardian arrangement feels much like welcoming a Burrinjuck puppy as your own beloved pet. Your puppy or dog is treasured within your family, while Burrinjuck retains breeding rights under an agreed guardianship arrangement.

In some circumstances, applicants may be able to choose their preferred terms. We will talk through the right arrangement for your family and the individual dog.

Full Guardian ●

For the whole journey.

Program cost$700

GIRLS

Burrinjuck retains breeding rights for up to three litters. Breeding would generally commence after her second heat, at around 1.5–2 years of age.

BOYS

Burrinjuck retains breeding rights for up to 5 years. Breeding would generally commence after 1 year of age.

A well-supported home life, with a caring role in a dog’s full breeding journey.

Modified Guardian ♥

A shorter commitment.

Program cost$2,500

GIRLS

Burrinjuck retains breeding rights for one litter only. Breeding would generally commence after her second heat, at around 1.5–2 years of age.

BOYS

Burrinjuck retains breeding rights for up to 5 years. Breeding would generally commence after 1 year of age.

A meaningful guardian role with a more limited breeding commitment.

Program payments are non-refundable. Payment can be made by cash, credit card, AfterPay or wire transfer.View payment options →

A commitment to our programGuardian families provide periodic photos and health updates, and make every reasonable effort to accommodate planned breeding needs.

01Life as your family dogYour guardian puppy or dog belongs to you and lives in your home, sharing the everyday joy and companionship of family life.
02Expenses are a shared responsibilityFood, routine veterinary care, training and insurance are your responsibilities. We cover all breeding-related costs, including testing, pregnancy care, whelping and desexing.
03Support through breeding careFor female dogs, this includes planned visits around joining and a stay with Burrinjuck before birthing and while puppies are being raised.
04A lifetime of connectionWhen the agreement is complete, your dog is desexed at our expense and remains the much-loved companion they have always been.
